Doctors and Reading

posted Wednesday, 8 June 2005

Yesterday Anna had her physical. She did really well besides crying when she had to sit naked in the infamous gown. Who can blame her? She got her TB test injection and a blood test; turns out, she has to repeat the blood test b/c they had called for "Hannah"...not Anna at the lab. Not a happy Mom here. Anyway, she passed with flying colors the hearing and vision tests, and laughed out loud at the reflex test when her knee was tapped and her foot shot up. I think the gown part was actually worse than any needles.

Then we celebrated at Panera, bought horse feed, did banking, bought her sunglasses, a watch, balloons, a coloring book, a puzzle, and after getting milkshakes, we headed home. (thanks heavens for the dollar store)

Today her tutor came for the first time. A nice young girl, Leslie, and Anna cried in protest the whole time she had to sit and write her ABC's. She did much better when we started walking around naming objects.

Tonight she was reading along in the beginner reading book at bedtime. "Time for bed, Biscuit" sounds so cute with a Russian accent. Maybe she was mad this morning b/c she's tired of ABC's and wants words? Hard telling, but Leslie will be back Friday to try again. Her mother works with Don, and her grandparents are our neighbors.

I told her tomorrow we have to draw more blood. She seemed ok, so maybe she didn't understand??? lol
